Candy crush saga has launched a new feature that is designed to keep people on the app for longer

Stressed out users of the game Candy crush should be able to look forward to a 30-second slot of respite with the launch of a new feature.

The latest update for Candy crush Saga allows users to set a self-imposed time limit to try and stop them playing for longer than they should.

Over the past month, Candy crush players have voiced concerns they are committing hours of time to the game only to become irritated by it.

Now with this new feature, they can set a deadline for when they want to be done for the day, and so the theory is the game might be left alone and still available for them to play.

A feature that allows players to set a self-imposed limit on the amount of time they spend playing the game was added to the game on Friday. This means that a user could set a daily limit of 30 seconds

'After playing for so many years, I get really frustrated by Candy Crush so I thought I'd make some changes to curb that frustration,' Jan Hurskamp, vice president of design at King, told the New York Times.

According to King, there were around 400,000 complaints about the game over the past year and as such the team decided to redesign the game to make it less addictive.

But some are still very concerned about the game, and have even begun petitioning for it to be banned in the UK.

‘We shouldn’t be paying people to sit and do nothing,’ one person wrote on the petition.

‘It is plain that the incentive is there to prolong play, at which point you just end up obsessively checking your device again and again.’

Another added: ‘You get to the point where you spend all of your time playing the game, coming online to do quick rounds when you can.’

While a third one said: ‘Is anyone even this mad about Candy Crush?! I’m going to give this my full support – we need to save our youth! We need to make our children into productive human beings again.’

Candy Crush has been downloaded more than 300 million times since it was launched on Facebook and Android in 2012.

However, it has been criticised for being too addictive and having the potential to be harmful to young people's mental health.

It is free to download on iOS and Android apps, and players usually pay £4.99 a month for an upgrade to the full game.

The last update to the game, Candy crush Friends Saga, which was launched in April, was initially released exclusively to iOS and the game was also made free to download on Android.

When you first fire the game up you'll notice it's similar to the original Candy Crush game, however there's a slight difference.

You have three lives to play each level before you progress to the next one.

Candy Crush saga game maker King Digital Entertainment plc KING, +0.88% is one of the largest mobile game publishers in the world. King, which is backed by private equity firms, licenses its games and characters to other companies that then create and distribute the games themselves.

MMOs, which encompass games like "Minecraft" and "World of Warcraft" that are huge hits with fans around the world, are a tough nut to crack for new publishers. Most popular titles have been around for a decade or more and become well-known through word-of-mouth. Developers of many popular free-to-play titles have warned investors that their games are unlikely to turn a profit because most of their users simply use the titles for free.

King has been working to grow its international presence. The company, which doesn't disclose revenue or earnings numbers, said earlier this month that it would bring its games. "Gears of War" to King Studios in King also operates Kongregate, an online games marketplace.

"The team around King continues to make progress toward growing the business internationally," CEO Riccardo Zacconi said in a statement.

Analysts have praised King in the past for making strong use of in-game advertising, which accounts.
